Team racing - so close

Light winds today and sometimes sunny and sometimes cloudy, we shared a coach boat with Spain and it was good fun afloat, we were even joined by NZL. 7 hours afloat today for 4 races.

Team Spain Barcelona and Real Madrid fanatics.

Our first race was against Bermuda, and capitano Matt, led the team to victory, or so we thought. The results board said we had won, then were were told we had lost. I had a detailed sums game with Matt and Jo so we knew we had won, I sent a deputation to the Chief Umpire, and he went tpo the finish boat to check then came back and said we had definately lost, so Jo explianed how we couldn't have lost so the Chump went back to the finish and then came back and said we had won - they could count after all. The Team GBR support team on the shore could be heard celebrating on the shore.

Lycra tops are all the rage and this one is HKG's Callum from HKG sporting a red number with a dragon on it.

Then came NZL, with TV crews and media stuff, we accidently beat NZL, mainy because Leonard did a mark trap on Matt 4 boat lengths out and matt went to windward and got room, Sarah did some great tacking too.

So then in race 3 we were up against the Argentinians, a race we could so easily have won, and got through to the finals. But we lost it on the finish even though Matt was dishing out penalties everywhere.

Finally we had to go into the losers final against Thailand, the plan was to make sure that there were 2 behind going to the finish if we couldn't outsail them. They were too smart and narrowly beat us on the finish. So 4 races, 2 wins and 2 losses, a draw but we didn't quite get into the finals by 2 points, on countback in the pool of losers for 16th place.

Tonight we went to a cultural evening and all the dads joined in with the boys doing a stone skimming competition.

More news coming soon.
